Overview
Your privacy is fundamental to the philosophy and architecture of ZenTab. We believe your notes, thoughts, and todos belong solely to you. ZenTab is built from the ground up as a local-only, offline-first browser extension.
Information We Do NOT Collect
No Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, location data, or browsing history.
No Telemetry or Analytics: ZenTab does not include Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any other tracking, telemetry, or metric-collection tools.
No Cookies or Beacons: ZenTab sets zero tracking cookies, web beacons, or fingerprinting scripts.
No Remote Network Requests: ZenTab makes zero network requests to external servers, APIs, or cloud platforms.
How Your Data is Stored
Local Storage Only: All your notes, todo lists, subtasks, tags, and settings are stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in browser.storage.local API (with localStorage as a secondary fallback).
No Cloud Synchronization: Your data never leaves your computer unless you explicitly choose to export it.
Permissions Used
ZenTab requests only the absolute minimum permissions necessary to function:

storage: Used solely to save your items and preferences (view mode, color theme, sticky note preferences) locally within your browser.
5. Data Portability and User Control
You maintain 100% ownership and control over your data:

Export: You can export your data at any time as a .json backup file or formatted .md Markdown file via the Settings modal.
Import: You can restore your data from any previously saved ZenTab .json backup.
Deletion: You can permanently clear all data and reset the extension at any time using the "Clear All Data & Reset" button in the Settings modal, or by uninstalling the extension.
6. Third-Party Services
ZenTab does not integrate with or transmit data to any third-party services, advertisers, or data brokers.

Changes to this Policy
If we make any changes to this Privacy Policy in future versions, the updated policy will be documented in the extension repository and release notes.
