There is a youtube video which describes this called Exposing the Honey Influencer Scam by MegaLag.

This isn't actually super helpful in saving any money and at best, it will steal affiliate commissions from other partner's links with their own, even if you visited a website earlier through a different link.

Honey typically isn't all that helpful, struggles to find working coupons (or lie), their rewards are pitiful compared to the money they make off of you, and have been proven to steal affiliates' credit such as from your favorite Youtubers.

Honey has a deal with companies they work with to not show you some of the better coupons for that site. They also steal commissions from influences/content creators.

It doesn't add value for you and steals affliate links from influencers. It's a lose lose for everyone except honey and the business selling the products.

Scam. Overrides affiliate links for whatever product you're looking at even if they don't find a coupon

Steals affiliate links that you've clicked on and funnels the money to Paypal. Hides the higher value coupon codes from you. Just full of lies. I'm sure they're doing shady things with all the cookie data it's also scraping. Extensions like these make you a product. They're not going to help you in the long run.

I have concerns about the Honey add-on, as it modifies URLs to include referral codes without clearly informing the user. This lack of transparency is problematic, as users are not adequately notified about the use of affiliate links, and it feels like a hidden action that could be considered deceptive. Mozilla's add-on policies stress the importance of transparency and user consent, which Honey seems to neglect. I would not recommend this add-on unless it improves its communication with users regarding how their links are being modified.
