Pentimento Atlas is a local visual-analysis studio for artists, photographers, illustrators, art students, and visual researchers. It places an image on a calm editorial light table and extracts structural evidence without pretending to judge whether the work is good or bad.

Import a source image to inspect five value bands, edge direction and density, dominant palette fields, focal basins, mass balance, connected quiet-space regions, and several non-destructive crop candidates. Import a second image to register a revision against the source and reveal where visual structure moved across a 12 × 9 field.

The Intent Hypothesis panel lets you state a compositional aim—such as an anchored center, asymmetric tension, open negative space, or a quiet center with active edges. Pentimento Atlas then reports supporting or conflicting measurements. These readings are descriptive tools for reflection, not aesthetic scores.

Pinned observations stay attached to normalized image coordinates. A folio can be saved locally in the current profile and restored later, including source and revision pixels, title, notes, and intent. The Export Plate command produces a self-contained SVG study sheet with the visible analysis, structural measures, and notes.

All pixel processing happens inside the extension. Pentimento Atlas does not upload images, contact analytics services, load remote code, or read webpages.
