USC Schedule Helper Privacy Policy

Data stored locally
The extension stores its enabled/disabled setting, conflict-highlighting preference, and unit-total preference in Firefox local extension storage. An email address and optional phone number entered in the notification form may be saved in local browser storage to prefill that form later. This locally stored information is not transmitted until the user submits a notification request.

Data transmitted
Only when a user explicitly submits a class notification request, the extension sends the entered email address, optional phone number, and the selected course department, section number, and semester over HTTPS to https://usc.jonlu.ca. This information is used to create or identify the user's notification account, monitor the selected section, and send requested email or SMS notifications. The extension does not transmit general browsing history, information from sites other than the supported USC class sites, or unrelated page content.

Sharing and payments
We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising. Information is processed only by service providers needed to operate the notification service, including hosting/database, email delivery, and SMS delivery providers. Optional SMS payments are handled by Venmo under Venmo's own privacy terms; the extension does not collect payment-card or bank-account information.

Retention and control
Information is retained only as needed to provide and operate the requested notification service. Users may request access, correction, or deletion by contacting usc-schedule-helper@jonlu.ca. Users can remove locally stored extension preferences by uninstalling the extension or clearing its site/extension data.
