This Privacy Policy explains how Video Downloader VeeVee (the “Extension,” “VeeVee,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) accesses, processes, stores, and shares information when you install or use the Extension. It also explains the choices available to you.

The Extension’s single purpose is to help users detect, preview, manage, and download video or audio files that they are legally entitled to save from websites they choose to visit. The Extension must access certain website and network information to perform this user-facing function. We do not use this information for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or the sale of personal data.

By installing or using the Extension, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where the Extension presents a service-specific consent notice, the relevant processing will not begin until you select the affirmative consent button.

1. Scope of This Policy
   This Policy applies to the Video Downloader VeeVee browser extension, including its popup, side panel, built-in media player, download workflow, and supporting services operated for the Extension.

This Policy does not control the privacy practices of websites from which you choose to download media, media platforms, content delivery networks, external video-processing services, Google Chrome, or other third parties. Those services process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

1. Information the Extension Processes
   Chrome Web Store policy treats information accessed, used, transmitted, or stored by an extension as handled data even when it is processed only on the user’s device. For that reason, this section describes both local processing and network transmissions.

2.1 Website and browsing context
To detect media on websites you visit, the Extension may process:

the URL, origin, domain, and title of the active page;
the URLs of frames and embedded content on the page;
HTML and metadata needed to locate media, such as media elements, page metadata, structured data, inline page data, and media configuration information;
media and playlist URLs, including MP4, WebM, M3U8/HLS, MPD/DASH, audio, and related content-delivery URLs;
network-request information such as request URL, request method, initiator, frame identifier, response status, content type, content length, and relevant request or response metadata;
information about detected media, such as title, author or account name where displayed by the source page, thumbnail or poster URL, duration, file size, dimensions, quality, format, and MIME type.
The Extension uses this information only to identify media available in the user’s current browsing context, display it in the Extension, prepare a download, resume or complete a requested download, and prevent unsupported or restricted sources from being processed.

2.2 Request bodies and form data
Some websites deliver video information through API or form requests rather than through ordinary media elements. To identify the video selected or displayed to the user, the Extension may locally inspect relevant request bodies or form parameters. The current build uses this capability for limited video-related request flows on services such as Instagram, Facebook, and VK.

The Extension does not use request-body access to read passwords, payment details, private messages, or unrelated form submissions. Request data that does not match a supported media-detection flow is not used to provide a download result. The Extension does not sell request data or use it for advertising or behavioral profiling.

2.3 Session cookies and service tokens
When a website makes media available only within the user’s existing session, the Extension may make an additional request to that same website or its associated content-delivery service. In that situation, Chrome may automatically include cookies belonging to the requested domain. The Extension may also use service tokens or anti-forgery values already present in the website’s page or requests, such as CSRF tokens, application identifiers, bearer tokens, page signatures, or similar service-generated values.

This may occur for supported flows involving Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, Vimeo, VK, and other source websites. These values are used only to request media information or files that are available in the user’s current session. The Extension does not request or store your account password, does not use the chrome.cookies API to read your browser’s cookie database, and does not intentionally send one service’s authentication information to VeeVee or to an unrelated video-processing service.

2.4 Media files and streaming segments
When you start a download, the Extension may fetch the selected media file or the segments of an HLS or DASH stream. It may temporarily store segments in browser-managed local storage, assemble them into a downloadable file, track download progress, and create a temporary local URL for the completed file.

If an HLS playlist specifies an encryption key URL, the Extension may retrieve that key from the media source and use it locally to process the HLS segments. The Extension is not intended to obtain DRM licenses, extract Widevine or PlayReady content keys, bypass paywalls or login restrictions, or provide unauthorized access to protected content.

2.5 Extension settings and operational records
The Extension may store the following information locally in Chrome storage or IndexedDB:

interface preferences, such as theme and display settings;
detected-media lists associated with open tabs;
download identifiers, progress, status, and information needed to resume or clean up downloads;
temporary media segments and assembled media data;
service-specific consent choices and pages for which consent is pending;
the current remote configuration and blocker list used by the Extension;
installation-related operational values needed to display the welcome flow or product links.
This local information is used to operate the Extension. It is not used to build an advertising profile.

2.6 Information you provide voluntarily
If you contact us by email or use a support or copyright-report page, you may voluntarily provide information such as your name, email address, organization, message, page URL, or documents supporting a copyright claim. The Extension may open the relevant VeeVee webpage, but information submitted on that webpage is processed for the purpose stated on the form, such as responding to support requests or evaluating a copyright report.

2.7 Technical server information
When the Extension contacts a website or online service, that service may automatically receive ordinary network information, including your IP address, date and time, user agent, requested URL, and standard HTTP headers. VeeVee-controlled web servers may retain standard security and access logs for a limited period to maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and investigate operational problems.

The Extension does not contain third-party behavioral analytics code and does not send browsing history to an advertising or analytics platform.

1. How the Extension Uses Information
   The Extension processes information only as reasonably necessary to:

detect video and audio on the page and in embedded frames;
retrieve media metadata and available download variants;
display media titles, thumbnails, quality, format, duration, and size;
preview media at the user’s request;
download individual files or user-selected batches;
fetch, combine, resume, and clean up HLS or DASH segments;
copy a media link, create a QR code, or send compatible media to a Cast device when the user chooses that feature;
remember settings and consent choices;
block unsupported or restricted websites;
deliver configuration, support, copyright-report, rate, donation, blog, and welcome links;
maintain security, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Service-Specific Processing and Consent
For TikTok, Instagram, and X/Twitter, the Extension presents a service-specific notice when additional processing is needed. If you select Cancel, the additional processing remains disabled. If you select Allow and reload, the choice is stored locally for that service, the page is reloaded, and processing may then start automatically when matching content is detected, including content embedded in another website and before you click Download.

4.1 TikTok
To obtain downloadable media information, the Extension may:

request media information from TikTok and its related content-delivery endpoints;
send the TikTok video URL to independent third-party video-processing services that return video information or download links;
read media information available on the TikTok page as a fallback.
Requests to these third-party video-processing services and the relevant TikTok endpoints are made without browser credentials. In particular, the Extension configures these requests not to include your browser cookies. A third-party processing service receives the submitted TikTok video URL and ordinary network information such as your IP address and user agent, processes the URL, and returns video information or download links. These services are independently operated and may apply their own privacy and retention practices.

4.2 Instagram
To identify videos available to you on Instagram, the Extension may inspect relevant Instagram API or GraphQL request parameters and make additional HTTPS requests to Instagram. These requests may use your current Instagram session cookies, an Instagram application identifier, and a CSRF token obtained from Instagram. The information is sent to Instagram, not to the external TikTok-processing services.

4.3 X/Twitter
To identify media attached to a post, the Extension may request post or player information from x.com, api.x.com, and cdn.syndication.twimg.com. Requests to the X API and embedded-post endpoint are configured without browser credentials. When the Extension loads an X/Twitter page to identify its media configuration, the user’s existing session may be used by the browser where required by that service.

4.4 Facebook, Vimeo, and VK
For supported Facebook, Vimeo, and VK pages, the Extension may repeat a video-related request to the same platform, retrieve a player configuration, or request media metadata using the current session information available for that platform. The Extension may set or adjust request headers such as Referer or Origin where needed for the media source to respond to the request. This processing is used only to locate media available in the user’s browsing context.

1. HTTP and HTTPS Websites
   The Extension is designed to detect media on both HTTP and HTTPS pages and in their embedded frames. The fact that the Extension runs on an HTTP page does not mean that browsing information is sent to VeeVee.

VeeVee-controlled services and the external processing endpoints specifically called by the current build use HTTPS. However, if you choose to use the Extension on an HTTP website, or the source page supplies an HTTP media URL, communication with that source website may not be encrypted. The security of a user-selected source website is controlled by that website, not by VeeVee. You should avoid entering sensitive information or downloading confidential media through an unencrypted website.

1. When Information Is Shared
   The Extension may transmit limited information in the following circumstances:

Source websites and media hosts: page URLs, media URLs, request parameters, session-supported requests, and media metadata may be sent to the website you are using or its associated API or content-delivery network to provide the requested feature.
Third-party TikTok processing services: after consent, a TikTok video URL may be sent to independent third-party video-processing services solely to obtain media information or download links.
VeeVee services: the Extension contacts config.veevee.app to obtain configuration values and a blocker list. It may also open pages on veevee.app for welcome, support, copyright reports, privacy information, blog, rating, or donation functions.
Google services: the Extension interface may request font styles and font files from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. If you use casting, the Extension may communicate with Google Cast components and a compatible device as necessary to perform that action.
Legal and safety reasons: information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce rights, respond to lawful requests, protect users, investigate fraud or abuse, or maintain the security of the Extension and its services.
Business transfer: information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law and the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy.
We do not sell user data. We do not transfer user data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers. We do not use user data for personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising, and we do not use it to determine eligibility for credit, loans, employment, housing, insurance, or similar services.

1. Data Retention
   Data handled by the Extension is retained only for as long as needed for the relevant function:

temporary streaming segments are stored locally while a download is being assembled or resumed and are scheduled for removal after completion, cancellation, failure, or cleanup;
detected-media records are associated with browser tabs and are cleaned up when they are no longer needed;
settings, download state, configuration, blocker data, and consent choices may remain in local extension storage until they are replaced, cleared, or the Extension is removed;
downloaded files are stored in the location selected by Chrome and are not deleted when local Extension data is cleared or the Extension is removed;
support correspondence and copyright reports may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain records, protect legal rights, and comply with law;
VeeVee server security logs may be retained for a limited period appropriate to security, reliability, fraud prevention, and legal requirements.
Third-party websites and processing services determine their own retention periods. We do not control their systems.

1. Your Choices and Controls
   You may decline a TikTok, Instagram, or X/Twitter processing request by selecting Cancel.
   You may clear a saved consent choice by clearing the Extension’s local data or removing the Extension from Chrome.
   You may use Chrome’s extension settings to restrict or revoke the Extension’s access to websites, although doing so may prevent media detection or downloads from working.
   You may control Extension notifications through Chrome or operating-system notification settings.
   You may cancel downloads through the Extension or Chrome’s download controls.
   You may remove the Extension at any time. Removing it clears browser-managed Extension storage according to Chrome’s behavior, but does not delete files you previously downloaded.
   You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information that you voluntarily submitted directly to VeeVee, subject to applicable law and any information we must retain for legal or security reasons.
2. Browser Permissions
   The current Extension build requests the following permissions because they support its disclosed media-detection and download functions:

Access to all URLs: to detect and download media from websites selected by the user and from associated media hosts.
All frames: to detect media embedded in iframes, including media embedded from another supported website.
Tabs: to identify the relevant tab and page, read the page URL or title where necessary, associate media with the correct tab, and reload the page after service-specific consent.
Storage: to save preferences, media lists, download state, configuration, blocker information, and consent choices locally.
Unlimited storage: to temporarily store large HLS or DASH segments and assembled media while processing downloads.
Offscreen: to use a hidden extension document for browser-supported media assembly and local file preparation.
Scripting: to run the packaged VeeVee content script on eligible open pages so the Extension can detect media.
Web request: to observe media-related request and response information and, where necessary, relevant request bodies used to identify video information.
Declarative network request with host access: to apply packaged rules that set limited request headers for particular supported media sources.
Downloads: to save requested files, monitor their progress, resume supported downloads, and allow cancellation.
Notifications: to show download completion, failure, cancellation, or other download-related status messages.
Side panel: to make the Extension’s media list and controls available in Chrome’s side panel.
These permissions are used only for the Extension’s disclosed single purpose and related operational functions.

1. Security
   We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information handled by the Extension. VeeVee-controlled services and the external processing services used by the current build use HTTPS. Service-specific credentials are used only with the corresponding service and are not intentionally disclosed publicly.

Local Extension storage is managed by Chrome and the user’s operating system and is not separately encrypted by VeeVee. No internet service or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for the security of their device, browser profile, source website accounts, and downloaded files.

1. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
   Video Downloader VeeVee’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In particular:

data is used only to provide or improve the Extension’s disclosed single purpose and closely related operational functions;
data is transferred only when necessary to provide that purpose, maintain security, comply with law, or complete a permitted business transfer;
data is not used or transferred for personalized advertising;
data is not sold to data brokers or information resellers;
humans are not permitted to read user data except with the user’s specific consent, when necessary for security or abuse investigation, when required by law, or when the data has been aggregated and anonymized for permitted internal operations.
12. Children’s Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under the age at which they may independently consent to data processing in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Extension. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to VeeVee, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

1. International Processing
   Websites and third-party services used by the Extension may process information in countries other than the country in which you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where applicable, VeeVee will take reasonable measures required by law for transfers of personal information under our control.
2. Copyright and Lawful Use
   The Extension is intended only for downloading media that you own, media for which you have the copyright holder’s permission, or media that you are otherwise legally entitled to save. You are responsible for complying with copyright law, website terms, access restrictions, and other applicable requirements.

The Extension is not intended to bypass paywalls, login restrictions, DRM systems, or other access controls, or to enable unauthorized downloading or distribution of protected content. VeeVee may block or discontinue support for websites associated with restricted or protected content.

1. Changes to This Privacy Policy
   We may update this Policy when the Extension, applicable law, or Chrome Web Store requirements change. We will post the revised Policy with a new “Last updated” date. If an update introduces materially different data practices, we will provide any additional notice or consent required by applicable law or Chrome Web Store policy before the new processing begins.
