Enigma Cipher Rooms ist ein schlanker, verschlüsselter Gruppenchat für Firefox und Firefox für Android.

Username wählen, Passwort eintragen, Room beitreten – fertig. Nachrichten werden auf deinem Gerät verschlüsselt, bevor sie den Relay erreichen. Handy und Desktop können denselben Room nutzen (kompatibel mit dem Enigma-2.0-Chat).


So geht’s

1. Addon-Icon antippen – der Chat öffnet sich als Tab
2. Username und Passwort eintragen
3. Room wählen oder einen eigenen erstellen
4. Schreiben – der Klartext bleibt auf deinem Gerät


Sicherheit & Technik

• AES-256-GCM mit zufälligem Salt und IV
• Schlüsselableitung: PBKDF2 (SHA-256, 250.000 Iterationen)
• Verschlüsselung nur im Client (Web Crypto)
• Der Relay sieht und speichert keinen Klartext
• Passwort wird nie hochgeladen


Gut zu wissen

• Alle im Room brauchen dasselbe Passwort, sonst bleibt der Text unlesbar
• Rooms am Relay sind flüchtig – die Historie kann verschwinden, wenn niemand mehr online ist
• Kein Ersatz für High-Security-Messenger (z. B. Signal) – gedacht für private, geteilte Geheimnisse im Enigma-Ökosystem


Datenschutz

• Keine Accounts, kein Tracking, keine Werbung, keine Analyse
• data_collection: none
• Bei Nutzung des Chats gehen nur Ciphertext, Nickname und Room-Metadaten an den konfigurierten Relay

Enigma Cipher Rooms

Enigma Cipher Rooms is a lightweight encrypted group chat for Firefox and Firefox for Android.

Pick a username, enter a password, join a room — done. Messages are encrypted on your device before they reach the relay. Phone and desktop can share the same rooms (compatible with Enigma 2.0 chat).


How it works

1. Tap the toolbar icon — chat opens in a tab
2. Enter username and password
3. Join a room or create your own
4. Type away — plaintext never leaves your device


Security & tech

• AES-256-GCM with random salt and IV
• Key derivation: PBKDF2 (SHA-256, 250,000 iterations)
• Encryption only on the client (Web Crypto)
• The relay never sees or stores plaintext
• Your password is never uploaded


Good to know

• Everyone in a room needs the same password, or messages stay unreadable
• Rooms on the relay are ephemeral — history may disappear when the room is empty
• Not a replacement for high-security messengers (e.g. Signal) — built for shared secrets in the Enigma ecosystem


Privacy

• No accounts, tracking, ads, or analytics
• data_collection: none
• When you chat, only ciphertext, nickname, and room metadata go to the configured relay
