Politique de confidentialité pour ClipAmigo - Gestionnaire de presse-papiers univers
ClipAmigo is a clipboard manager available as a Chrome extension and a companion web app at clipamigo.com. This policy explains what data we handle, where it is stored, and what is shared with third parties. We've written it in plain language.
The short version: Your clipboard history is stored locally on your device by default and never leaves it. Data is only sent to our servers if you opt in to cloud sync by signing in and tapping the cloud icon on specific items — and anything you sync is end-to-end encrypted on your device first, so we only ever store unreadable ciphertext. We never sell your data, run ads, or use third-party analytics or tracking.
- Data stored locally (default)
By default, everything ClipAmigo captures is stored only on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This includes:
Data Why it's stored
Text you copy (from web pages or desktop apps) To build your clipboard history
The URL and title of the page where a copy occurred, when available To show and group items by their source website
Tags, favourites, and item metadata (timestamps, type) Organisation and search
Your settings (theme, toggles, paused sites, optional password lock) To remember your preferences
Local data is never transmitted by ClipAmigo unless you enable cloud sync (below). Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data. You can also export it as JSON or clear it entirely from Settings → Data & Privacy.
- Cloud sync (optional, opt-in)
Cloud sync is an optional feature. It is off until you sign in and explicitly choose to sync. When you use it, the following happens:
Signing in
Cloud sync uses Google Sign-In (OAuth). When you sign in, we receive and store your name, email address, and Google profile picture URL to create and identify your account. We do not receive your Google password.
End-to-end encryption (zero-knowledge)
Cloud sync is end-to-end encrypted by default, for every user, at no cost. Before any item leaves your device, its sensitive fields — the copied text, its tags, and the source site/URL — are encrypted locally with a key derived from a passphrase that only you know (AES-GCM, with PBKDF2 key derivation). We receive and store only the resulting ciphertext; we cannot read your synced clips, and neither can anyone with access to our database.
To make encryption work across your devices we store a small key bundle: cryptographic salts, your master key wrapped (encrypted) by your passphrase and by your recovery code, and a verifier used to check the passphrase. We never receive or store your passphrase, your recovery code, or your unwrapped master key. If you lose both your passphrase and your recovery code, your synced data cannot be recovered — by us or anyone else.
Items you sync
Only the items you specifically mark with the cloud icon (or, if you enable auto-sync, items captured after that point) are uploaded to our servers at clipamigo.com. The text content, tags, and source site of each synced item are encrypted on your device (see above) — we store them only as ciphertext. A small amount of non-content metadata (item type, timestamps, and favourite status) is stored unencrypted so that ordering and sync can work. Items you do not sync never leave your device.
What we do with it
Synced items are stored so you can access them on clipamigo.com and on any device where you're signed in.
Sync is two-way — edits and deletions propagate across your devices.
Deleting a synced item, or deleting your account, removes that data from our servers.
We use your data only to provide the sync feature you opted into. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose unrelated to operating ClipAmigo.
- Payments
ClipAmigo Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our servers; payment processing is handled by Stripe under their own security and privacy terms. We retain only the subscription status (and a Stripe customer/subscription reference) needed to unlock Pro features for your account. ClipAmigo Pro only raises the cloud-item limit — end-to-end encryption is free for everyone and is not a paid feature. - Third-party services
Google Favicons
To show a small site icon next to items with a known source, ClipAmigo requests favicon images from https://www.google.com/s2/favicons?domain=<site>. This sends Google only the domain name (e.g. github.com), your IP address, and standard request metadata — never your clipboard content. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can block this request and ClipAmigo falls back gracefully to no icon.
Google Sign-In
Used only for cloud-sync authentication, as described in Section 2.
ClipAmigo contains no advertising networks, no analytics or telemetry SDKs, and no third-party trackers.
- Extension permissions
Permission Why it's needed
clipboardRead / clipboardWrite Capture copied text into history and copy items back to your clipboard
storage Persist your history and settings locally
offscreen Detect text copied outside the browser (a Manifest V3 requirement)
tabs / activeTab Record the source site of a copied item
contextMenus Add right-click "Save to ClipAmigo" and "Paste from ClipAmigo" options
notifications Optional save confirmations (off by default)
identity Google Sign-In for optional cloud sync
host_permissions: <all_urls> The content script listens for copy/cut events on the pages you visit. It only acts on those events — it does not read or transmit page contents otherwise - Data retention & deletion
Local data: remains until you clear it or uninstall the extension.
Synced data: remove individual items by deleting them, or remove everything by deleting your account from the web app, which erases your cloud items and your encryption key bundle, and cancels any active subscription. - Children
ClipAmigo is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data. - Changes to this policy
If this policy materially changes, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and reflect it in the Chrome Web Store listing. - Contact
