There is a German translations. However Firefox decides what language it will use.
If you use English Firefox then you will probably have to force it:
1) open "about:config" in Firefox, and search for the "general.useragent.locale preference"
2) double click on the preference to select it, enter the language code "de"

Please try to use Firefox Reset to fix your Firefox:

Juraj Mäsiar - Noté 5 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 13496098 de Firefox, il y a 9 ansBonjour, des années, oui, des années de fenêtres et d'onglets (environ 300/400) qui ont carrément disparu de ma page d'accueil "chrome://speeddial/content/speeddial.xul" avec cette mise à jour (obligatoire) de "speeddial" avec mozilla (V.57)... Je n'ai rien contre l'évolution, mais lorsque c'est au dépend d'un travail d'autrui et du jour au lendemain, JE SUIS VRAIMENT FURIEUX "FURAX"... C'est complétement effacé (indique maintenant : fichier introuvable - Erreur) ! Une solution, peut-être, pour retrouver toutes mes sélections ?
Et si non, que dire de plus, peut être, bravo !!!

You can probably import your old dials. If you have your .speeddial
backup file, just import it. Here is a short tutorial:

If you don't have your backup file, you can look for one here:
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\\SDBackups
and look for .speeddial files.
You can also download Firefox ESR and backup your dials. However
downgrading to Firefox ESR will break your Firefox database and you will
have to use Firefox reset feature to fix it afterwards
(https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings).

You probably activated the "Super-speed" feature (in upper right menu). When this feature is enabled, you can drag and drop only when holding Ctrl or Shift keys. You can also disable Super-speed.

The list of groups is scrollable.
And you can also make it bigger, in Options page / Groups tab / Group list height set to 50 to see two rows of groups.
You may also start using "group-dials" to navigate between groups like I'm showing in my introduction video with the group-dial "Work":

It's harder to do things these days, Firefox doen't allow some functions like before.
Anyway you can set it up as homepage by following instructions on the first line on first tab in Options page.

I suggest this to be documented somewhere in the GUI, because I would never have guessed this functionality.
Quite good, lots of potential and just need some polishing and additional functionality.
Plus - The good things
+ Has a working import for the old Speed Dial by Josep del Rio, which recently stopped working with Firefox Quantum. This saved me my 1000+ old Speed Dials!
+ Can open dials in new tabs in the background. without switching to them.
+ You can "scroll-change" between groups, so you don't even have to click on the group titles in order to change group.
+ You can change the size group titles
+ Fast
Minus - what I would like to change/add
- Where is the "+" button at the end of the end of the group list? It's never visible, at least not in in FF Quantum.
- I would very much like to be able to scroll through the group list with "arrow buttons" as is possible in Josep del Rio's Speed Dial as well. Yes, I know you can "scroll-change" between them, but then I never see the name of my "current group".
- I'm eagerly awaiting time-based "Auto Reload" and the "Visual" functionality. Please do them similar to how they work in Josep del Rio's Speed Dial and I will even consider becoming a "Patreon"! :-)
