Politique de confidentialité pour ScreenCode
ScreenCode par SquarePi
ScreenCode is a SquarePi product. This policy explains how the ScreenCode browser extension handles information when you use it to read a QR code or barcode visible in the active browser tab.
Data collection
The ScreenCode browser extension does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or retain personal data. It contains no analytics, advertising trackers, telemetry, or remote decoding service.
Local processing
ScreenCode runs only after you choose “Select a QR code.” The extension temporarily captures the visible area of the active tab, lets you select a rectangle, and decodes that selection locally on your device. The screenshot, selected crop, decoded value, and payload classification are not uploaded or transmitted to ScreenCode or any third party.
The background copy of the visible-tab capture is deleted as soon as the review screen retrieves it, or within 60 seconds if the scan is abandoned. The reader clears the full image after creating the selected crop and clears the crop after decoding. Screenshots, crops, and decoded values are not placed in persistent extension storage.
Permissions
ScreenCode requests only the activeTab and scripting permissions. Temporary active-tab access begins after your explicit action and is used to capture the visible tab. The scripting permission is used to read the viewport dimensions and display the temporary rectangle-selection interface. The extension does not request persistent host permissions and does not read page text, forms, cookies, passwords, or browsing history.
Sensitive information and user control
QR codes can contain sensitive information, including contact details, authenticator setup values, passkey requests, Wi-Fi credentials, payment information, location information, and personal communications. ScreenCode processes these values locally, conceals sensitive fields where appropriate, and displays a review screen before offering an action. It never opens a destination or performs another decoded action automatically.
External destinations
If you explicitly approve an action that opens a website, app, email client, phone service, map, authenticator, or another external destination, that service operates under its own privacy policy. The normal browser or operating-system request occurs only after you approve the action.
Remote code and third parties
All executable code and QR/barcode decoding logic is included in the installed extension package. The extension does not download or execute remote code and does not send scan data to third-party services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when ScreenCode’s functionality or legal obligations change. The effective date above will be revised when an update is published.
