À propos de cette extension
Read real Japanese, everywhere.
Shiritai adds furigana to Japanese text on any web page—news, social media, blogs, Wikipedia—and makes every word clickable for a dictionary lookup.
★ Furigana on any page
Instant readings above kanji on any page. Adjust the furigana size to whatever feels comfortable.
★ One-click dictionary
Click any word to see its reading, dictionary form, and JMdict definitions in English, German, Russian, Spanish or Chinese. Click 🔊 to hear the pronunciation.
★ See the melody
Every lookup draws the word's pitch-accent contour — the rise and fall that makes 箸 (chopsticks) sound different from 橋 (bridge).
★ Focus on what you need
Color words by JLPT difficulty (N5–N1) and hide furigana for levels you've already mastered, so readings appear only where you need them.
★ Reading comfort
A reading ruler dims everything except the line you're reading, while optional word spacing (分かち書き) adds small gaps between words.
★ Go deeper
Select any text, right-click → "Explain with Shiritai" for a full breakdown on shiritai.app: translations, grammar, vocabulary, kanji, and a study summary.
Everything runs locally in your browser—the tokenizer and dictionary are bundled with the extension. No text is sent anywhere unless you request a full explanation.
Dictionary: JMdict (EDRDG). Pitch accents: kanjium (CC BY-SA 4.0). Chinese glosses: Tomoshi open data (CC BY-SA 4.0). Kanji levels: kanji-data (MIT).
