    It just works just as advertised :) The only thing that could make it better is if I could set the color (a big white screen is blinding at night, I'd like to make it black)

    EDIT: Maybe a separate "dark new tab" add-on would make more sense, since those are the two main use-cases and it will keep the code nice and minimal like it is now.

    Due to the way this add-on works (it redirects to the built-in 'about:blank' page), it's not possible to set the colour directly. A separate add-on that used its own blank page (instead of 'about:blank') with a smidgen of CSS to change the background would be fairly easy to create - perhaps someone will give it a shot?

    When I create a new tab I have a purpose. At best text on the blank new tab page is ignored, at worst it distracts me from my task.

    One nit: The extension doesn't distinguish private mode. It was nice (before installing) to see a reminder I was in private mode with each new tab.

    As far as I know, it's not currently possible for extensions to choose to override new tabs in normal windows only. There is a Firefox bug filed to disallow overriding the new tab page in private windows though (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1324384), so when that's changed in Firefox it should work as you wish.

    Every time I I sign back on to my Firefox page, I have to re-download the blank tab feature. Why isn't it permanent?

    Sorry about that! All this add-on does is request that Firefox use a blank new tab - actually enforcing it is up to Firefox itself.

    If you have any other add-ons that affect the new tab page (e.g. Classic Theme Restorer, or perhaps a search engine add-on), they may be overriding Blank New Tab.
