Best option to have a custom url and not change the address bar, perfect

Does exactly what I want, awesome! No URL that's prefilled, I can just start typing and still have my selfhosted dashboard when opening a New Tab 🫰

Most other new tab overrides just redirect to the url. But this extension uses an iframe I think. Another plus is when loading the new tab page you can set it to be dark mode or light mode, so no more flashes of white when loading a page that is dark. However, I'm so annoyed at Mozilla for making an addon to be necessary!!

It's so dumb that they don't let you change the NewTab url like they let you change your new window start page.

There is really NO reason for Mozilla NOT to off the ability to do so.

Well, I'm betting that it has to do with $$$ honestly. The default new tab page is all about Pocket and most of the default articles it gives you are to paid sites that Pocket (aka Mozilla) make money from.... soooooo, that is the ONLY reason why I can see them not offering.

Because lets face it, we open new tabs A LOT more then we do new windows.

After hunting for an extension that allows you to use a custom url as a new tab this is IT!

All the other extensions don't clear the url bar when making a new tab. So when you start typing the characters are appended to the url bar contents, meaning you need to manually clear the url bar each time.

This one fixes that! I've struggled with it for a month now, and finally found this extension. Thanks MethodGrab!

Does what it says on the tin, and I really appreciate that it does so while maintaining focus on the address bar.

This is a great add on for displaying a simple, custom new tab page.

Especially if your page doesn't have links and just displays some JS enabled info, it's a great way to not pollute the address bar as you do so.

This extension doesn't work for file:// URLs. I'd prefer not to host my new tab page publicly, just so I can load it on my own computer. Otherwise seems to work fine (assuming the target page is accessible via http or https).
