• Pause on this site: one click in the toolbar popup turns the fade guard off (or back on) for the current site.
• Keyboard shortcuts: Alt+Shift+D turns the fade guard on or off, Alt+Shift+S pauses or resumes the current site, Alt+Shift+Up/Down brightens or dims the current site. You can change them in your browser's shortcut settings.
• Schedule: run always, only during set hours (for example 20:00–07:00), or only while your system is in dark mode.
• Smoother hand-off: the fade now starts from the previous page's own color when that page was dark.
• Pixel-accurate detection (optional, off by default): also recognizes pages that look bright because of images, not just CSS colors.
• Preview buttons on the options page show the fade with your current settings.
• The popup, store description and shortcut names are now translated into all 10 supported languages.

• No more brief dark flash on sites you excluded, when the guard is off, or outside your schedule.
• No dark overlay when moving between two bright pages of the same site.
• Lower CPU use on busy pages: brightness checks wait until the browser is idle and pause in background tabs.
• "Replace bright CSS backgrounds" is much faster on large pages and now also works in tabs opened in the background.
• Faster tab switching when many tabs are open.

Reliability fixes: the anti-flash overlay could occasionally get stuck on screen or fail to fade in on some pages — especially on browsers that recolor page content (like Zen Browser's dark mode boost) or if the extension's background process was slow to wake up. No new features, no new permissions.

v1.3.0 — Toolbar popup with quick controls

Clicking the toolbar icon now opens a quick-access popup instead of jumping straight to the settings page:

Fade guard toggle — turn the anti-flash overlay on/off for all sites with one click, no need to open settings.
Page brightness slider — dim or brighten the current page on the spot. Each site remembers its own brightness setting the next time you visit.
Settings button (⚙) — still opens the full settings page, exactly as before.
No new permissions were added.

Removed fade when navigating from a bright to dark site.
Bugfix: Sometimes the fade was shown when navigating from bright site to bright site.

An optional background replacement feature can also convert bright CSS backgrounds to a selected dark color, including dynamically loaded content.
Same-site navigation avoids unnecessary repeated transitions, and Firefox’s built-in pages remain untouched.
