I'm a person who only needs a vpn very occasionally, and cannot afford the luxury of a top-of the line vpn. With Covid plus a broken cable to where I live, I have had problems even accessing news in my home country and downloading new drivers for my old laptop.
I was sceptical to see an offer of a free vpn, those I read about were all very flaky on privacy and were often usually slow according to real reviews.
Hoxx'a offer is genuine, you dn't have to pay, though they do advertise an upgrade 3 times faster and more connexions when you pull down the menu to connect. That is fair, and the cost just for a browser is modest.

Speed has been decent, I got 0 MB/s for some nvidia drivers on my theoretically 6MB/s connexion (it is 6 MB/s if you download from the ISP (!) ). Without Hoxx it was impossible to download a 500Mbyte driver. It would have been maybe 1 day to get just one.

But with Hoxx I got 1.5 MB/s, which is pretty damn good. It took 10 minutes for each driver with their browser add-on!

If your needs are simple, iike mine, then I'd recommend Hoxx with no hesitation.

P.S, They also do software to vpn all the connections from your PC as well if you need that. But I was quite happy with the simple browser add-on.

有时候真的太需要了,需要的时候需要得不行,不需要的时候根本没用,就是这样的尴尬.还好有这个免费的,这真是太棒了!

A big warning for this one, if you download and install it (like i unfortunatly did) you grant them the right to monitor and safe your intire browser activity. This is the opposite of privacy.

The best VPN I ever had

When it's working, it's fine. There are rules and limitations to the free version. I get that and can live with it for now. But sometimes it SAYS it's working and it ISN'T, which can be very, very bad. I know when it's not working, because I know how to check my location and IP address. This alone makes me NOT want to try their premium service.
