What this extension is

I Don't Like This Post is an independent browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that overlays a community dislike counter on social media posts you view. It currently supports Threads. It is not made by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Meta Platforms, Inc.
What data is collected

By default, the extension does not ask you to log in, and it never sees your account credentials. The only identifier it creates automatically is a random, anonymous install ID:

A randomly generated ID (a UUID), created once per browser install and stored locally via the browser's extension storage
The post IDs you dislike, paired with that anonymous ID, so the same install can't vote twice on the same post
The handle of the post's author, read directly from the post itself (the same handle already visible on the post), stored alongside the vote — this powers the leaderboard features described below
A short text snippet of the disliked post (up to a few hundred characters), also read directly from what's already visible on your screen at the moment you click dislike — used only to show a more informative "most disliked post" card on a connected account's public stats page, described below


No name, email, IP address, or other personally identifying information is ever requested or stored against the anonymous ID.
If you connect your account (optional)

The extension offers an optional "Connect your account" feature via the platform's own login (OAuth) — you are never asked to type a password into the extension itself. If you use it, we additionally store:

Your user ID, username, and public profile picture URL
An access token — this stays on our server only. It is never sent to your browser, never shown to you or anyone else, and is not currently used to post, like, comment, or take any action on your behalf


Connecting your account is not anonymous, and that's the point. See "Public Loserboards" below before connecting.
Public Loserboards

Connecting your account makes the following public, viewable by anyone at a stats page on this site — no login required to view, and no way to opt out of visibility while staying connected:

Your username and profile picture
How many posts you've disliked
How many of your own posts have been disliked, and by how much
Your single most-disliked post, including a short text snippet of it (see "What data is collected" above) — shown alongside the platform's own official embed of the post where available


We also publish site-wide leaderboards built from this same data — "Most Hated Poster" (accounts whose posts receive the most dislikes), "Most Disliked Post" (individual posts with the most dislikes), and "Biggest Hater" (accounts that have cast the most dislike votes). All three are limited to people who have connected their own account. We do not name or rank anyone on these leaderboards who hasn't themselves connected — connecting is what opts you into appearing on them, not simply having a public post disliked by someone else.
What the backend stores

The extension talks to a small API operated by Dented Printer. It stores one row per (post ID, anonymous install ID) vote, and — for connected accounts — a separate record of the user ID, username, profile picture, and access token described above. Aggregated counts and leaderboard rankings are derived from these tables.

The extension never posts, comments, likes, or otherwise acts on your account, connected or not. It only reads content already visible on your screen (post IDs, author handles, and a short text snippet of the post) and records your own dislike toggle.
How this data is used

This data is used solely to:

Show accurate community dislike counts on posts
Prevent the same browser install from voting more than once per post
Apply basic rate limiting to deter automated/bot voting
For connected accounts: display your personal stats and profile, and include your activity in the public Loserboards leaderboards described above


This data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used to build an advertising profile of you.
Data retention & deletion

Uninstalling the extension deletes the locally stored anonymous ID from your browser immediately.

If you've connected your account, the extension's popup gives you two separate actions:

Disconnect — immediately revokes the stored access token and removes your account link. Because your personal stats page and every Loserboards leaderboard only ever show people with a currently-connected account, disconnecting immediately removes you from all public display — your stats page stops resolving and you drop off every leaderboard right away. The underlying vote records are not erased, just no longer shown to anyone; reconnecting later restores the same history.
Delete my data — a separate, explicitly-confirmed action that permanently erases every dislike vote ever attributed to your connected identity, in addition to everything Disconnect does.
