I was looking for an extension that does exactly this, and despite the reviews saying the extension only works if you turn it off and on again every time you reload a page, I installed it anyway. It did indeed need to be reactivated for each tab I opened or reloaded, but I didn't mind the extra step.

But a few weeks ago, I noticed that after a recent Firefox update I no longer need to manually activate the extension for it to work. It now works just as designed, and I have automatic smart quotes in every tab.

Now that the extension works as designed, I have no qualms giving it 5 stars!

The only way of making it work is disabling it and enabling it for every page. It gets disabled again if you reload. It's unusable.

Doesn't work properly with Firefox 111.0.1 (64-bit). I restarted the browser after installation but had to turn the extension off and on for each new window/tab in order to swap the smart quotes. Functionally broken, sadly.

Finally! I was so tired of Tumblr using straight quotes, but with this, i don't have to manually convert them anymore

I love the intention behind it. Been waiting for such an extension for years. I hope it works!

This has been my constant frustration with writing on the web. I'm so glad I found this.

For some reason this add-on works only intermittently with Discord but consistently works everywhere else. On Chrome it occasionally quit working with no warning then started working again but I havent had that experience on Firefox yet.

It works in more basic pages, but does not seem to work with text boxes that are loaded later with scripts, like in Twitter. Also, I did not find a configuration page to set blacklisted URLs.
