Spelling Bee Companion — Version 3.0.2 Release Notes

We are excited to release Version 3.0.2 of the Spelling Bee Companion! This update introduces automatic cross-device settings sync alongside important fixes for sidebar stability, real-time score updates, and word tally accuracy.



🌟 New Syncing Feature

Automatic Settings & Stats Sync

• Your settings (like active panels, selected translation language, and display layout) and gameplay statistics are now automatically synced across your browser profiles and devices.
• Gameplay records are safely merged. If you play on a different computer, your progress for the day is automatically updated.

🐞 Bug Fixes

1. Scorecard Reset & Point Fluctuation Fixes

• Fixed an issue where word lists from previous days were bleeding into today's game, causing incorrect point calculations and score jumps. The extension now isolates word lists to today's active puzzle only.
• Removed game answer checks from local storage reads to ensure security.

2. Duplicated Scraped Word Filtering

• Fixed a bug where word-lists occasionally showed duplicated text strings (e.g. BOOTEDBOOTED instead of BOOTED). All guesses are now validated against the daily puzzle key to discard incorrect entries.

3. Real-Time Word Update Sync

• Fixed a bug where the sidebar failed to refresh or show newly found words unless you switched tabs. Scorecard progress and tally chips now update instantly within 300 milliseconds of finding a word.

4. Docking Lockout & Browser Compatibility

• Added a warning prompt if changing to sidebar mode fails (e.g., if you need to reload the page), preventing you from getting locked out of the settings.
• Improved routing to ensure update messages are delivered even if your focus is on the sidebar or devtools window.
• Fixed Firefox crashes due to browser-specific API compatibility issues.

📊 Two-Letter Tally UI Improvements

• Found / Total Format: Tally chips now show how many words you have found out of the total (e.g. 2/3 found instead of 1/3 remaining).
• Uniform Colors: To-do chips are styled yellow alongside partially completed chips for a cleaner progress view. Completed items display a green checkmark (✓).
