Is this some kind of protest or joke due to the third party apps protest on reddit?

Why on earth do all my Reddit links now redirect behind the scenes to https://old.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/media/nice_hat/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fond2117tbwgb1.jpg instead of where the should land. The hover text in the bottom left for the URL even displays the correct URL, but having this extension enabled redirects me to the aforementioend "Nice_hat" link.

The only way to use reddit. If reddit tries to force users to use the new interface then I'll stop using it.

A really good extension, that does just what it should. Nothing more and nothing less. The size is just around 20 KB. No unnecessary code, what I can tell.

Essential for Reddit browsing.

A must have for reddit users

It does what it says on the tin. I haven't had any problems. My Reddit preferences are set to use the old version, but the add-on works even when I'm logged out, so it's helpful.
