Pelayo of Asturias troch Ronnigon

This theme depicts the ancient Visigoth leader, Pelayo of Asturias, who began the 800-year-long Christian Reconquest of Spain from the Islamic Moors with his victory at the historical site of Covadonga. The inscription in Latin says "With this sign shalt thou defend the pious; with this sign shalt thou defeat the enemy."
