Privacy for WhatsApp Web (Auto Blur WA) protects your screen from shoulder-surfing and prying eyes at work, cafe or coffee shops, or any public places. This extension automatically blurs your WhatsApp, instantly revealing items only when you hover your mouse cursor over them.

Note: This project is an actively maintained community fork of the original open-source extension, updated to fix recent layout bugs and keep our privacy tools working smoothly.

It adapts to your needs by letting you decide which elements you want to blur.
Your options:
- All messages in chat: Blurs all messages in the current chat.
- Last messages preview: Blurs all message previews on the left.
- Media preview: Blurs all images, videos, stickers, etc. in separation from the text.
- Media gallery: Blurs all small icons of images, videos, etc. while viewing an image, video, etc.
- Text input: Makes the color in your input field lighter to make it hard to read.
- Profile pictures: Blurs all profile pictures.
- Group/Users names: Blurs all group and usernames.
- No transition delay: Allows you to turn off the delay before revealing an item on hover.
- Unblur all on app hover: Unblurs all elements when you hover over the WhatsApp Web app.
- Blur WhatsApp on Idle: Blurs WhatsApp when there is no mouse/keyboard activity after a certain time.
- Advanced Settings: Customize the blur amount (in pixels) for various elements independently and set the idle timeout duration.
- Theme Toggle: Switch between Light, Dark, or System Preference theme for the extension.

Quick Toggle Shortcut
Quickly toggle all blur effects on or off globally using the button in the extension menu or via a keyboard shortcut (Default: Alt+X). To customize this hotkey, navigate to: "about:addons" -> Settings icon on the top right -> Manage Extension Shortcuts



No Tracking
This extension does not collect any information about you, your settings, or your messages. Everything stays locally in your browser.
