the voice used for reading text is soooo bad. a voice option or something would be good

Not perfect, but does exactly what it needs to. Quick to activate, controls aren't too clunky, and it's not invasive.

The german voices I tried sound annoying, but with the generic voice its good.

This is a single best extension that I have ever used in all of my History of using Internet. I have always found the read aloud feature on edge very superior and that is something that had kept me on edge for quite a few while. At once I wasn't very impressed of the Piper voices, because I was so used to the Microsoft Eva online voices, which Microsoft provides. So I decided to use narrator on my own PC as a replacement, and thought that I wouldn't use this extension. And so I decided to download those voices on my narrator app But working with narrator is kinda hard because it's not made for people who want to read articles It's mostly made for people who have visual impairment. so i decided to go back And thought to myself that maybe I should stick to read out aloud piper voices and not bother about using anything else. But as soon as I was exploring the settings section, I realised that read aloud has automatically imported all of those voices, which is excellent and absolute beast. 😭😭😭😭😎😎😎😎😎. I'will talk to the creators of this add on so that they know it themselves. So it's implemented within the extension by default. becoz those voices are quite good. heck natural reader also uses them

Could you please add an option to determain how long to pause when it reads periods, commas or indentation? also add an option to skip over certain characters like *** instead of reading astrick astrick astrick

robotic audio, cant understand text

This extension was working great until today. Now any time i try to use the extension, it has ~90% cpu usage and causes my laptop to freeze. edit: It seems like I need to restart my computer every couple hours to avoid this issue.

voice is super robotic, there is no control over speed. unusable for me

I'm quite baffled by all the bad reviews; the default voice is indeed uncomprehensible, but changing it to one of the (many!) Piper voices actually gives you an output that's easy to listen to and quite enjoyable. English voices' output is, in my opinion, almost on par to Edge's TTS.

While I can't speak for all the other languages, I can say that at the moment the Italian Piper models are a bit lacking compared to the English ones, but they're still comprehensible.

Voix juste horrible !!

My eyesight is failing *AMD) and this extension has saved my life. It's only fault is it won't read text that isn't really text but a picture of text. quite a few folks use that method on wed sites and ads. I will just skip those. Thanks for being there for us.

Even better now with the Piper voices :o))
