YDX Downloader adds a seamless download button directly inside the YouTube player controls. Whether you're watching a regular video or a Short, just click the ⬇ button to instantly queue it in the YDX desktop app — no copying URLs, no opening new tabs.

How it works:

A subtle download icon appears in the YouTube player toolbar (next to the captions button)
On YouTube Shorts, a floating button appears on the side of the player
Clicking it sends the video URL to the YDX app running on your computer
YDX handles format selection, quality, and saving
Requirements:

The YDX desktop app must be installed and running on your computer
Permissions used:

activeTab — read the current YouTube page URL
storage — save your preferences
notifications — notify you of download status
contextMenus — right-click menu support
localhost:6969 — communicate with the YDX desktop app
