Honestly this is the worst way to download any video since it plasters a terrible QR code on your download telling you to upgrade/pay. There are quality and actual free solutions to download videos on these websites. While this extension has 4.3 as an overall rating now, there is no way that will remain the case for long with how this extension is operating.

Such a garbage add-on.

Free version will patch a QR code at the corner of the output video. This consumes your CPU power to encode the whole video again, just to bother you so you can buy a license. I really don't understand how this extension can get 4.3/5.

Doesnt work on most websites any more, wont detect all resolutions offered when it does, no longer free and puts a giant ugly QR code on every download. Not worth the time or effort when better options and free options exist.

[This is all my opinion and experience, based on 15+ years of use with Firefox and extensions. Your results may vary.] After its mid-2025 "updates," VDH has become a 95% useless & untrustworthy zero-star extension. Usually fails at its ONE job of finding and downloading videos easily and correctly on demand. Asks for permissions it does NOT need to work. When it does manage to find a video, you're limited to 1 download every 2 hours (and that download will usually fail before complete) -- unless you pay for a subscription. Downloaded videos may have huge ugly watermarks on them, rendering this extension even more useless & aggravating. I can no longer trust this extension; everything about it is now inferior, worse performing, and more expensive now. Avoid this one like a literal plague.

Doesn't work anymore

Doesn't work on FF latest build. Nothing shows up on the top right bar. Every other extension shows up except this one. Blank. Nothing. I have all permissions enabled. I downloaded the extra extension recommended for this as well. Still nothing appears on the FF bar.

this app uses 90%+ of your CPU when downloading 1 file from youtube, i have noticed more and more apps are getting greedy, the one time i use my gaming pc to download a youtube video and it uses 90%+ of the cpu, how on earth can it use that much cpu, other shitbox apps(ultimate pop up blocker) use 90%+ of the ram and cpu leaving you with firefox that does nothing and windows that is unresponsive , i suggest everybody delete these hungry greedy apps asap, and use an app that takes less(less data, private info, cpu, ram, and gives you privacy

They watermark videos and use an external app, so I uninstalled and switched to savefrom.net helper. Sad to see a once-useful tool in decline.

i used to say "excellent software that really does what it claims, cannot recommend enough!" but now i cannot recommend this software. they have added a QR code overlay and are holding downloads to ransom by demanding money to give a watermark free version. ironically they are now in contravention of UK and EU laws on copyright as adding the watermark means they are no longer just facilitating our use of this software (legal or otherwise) and now are taking ownership of potentially copyright protected by adding in the QR code watermark.

off to find a new downloader now
