XFI saves rendered post cards from the X For you feed as local JSON files.
A new store installation does not begin collection until you press
Start / resume. Use Save & stop to end collection and save the current part.
The extension reads post content shown in the rendered feed, including post
text, public display names and handles, post IDs and links, displayed
timestamps, quoted-post details, media metadata and alternative text,
outbound links, promotion indicators, and uncertainty/preview labels.
It also records collection timestamps, whether the feed document was in the
foreground, and technical session events needed to explain an export.
Post text can itself contain personal information supplied by its author.
XFI reads the selected feed tab and page state to detect login, loading,
verification, and rate-limit interruptions. It does not read direct messages,
passwords, cookies, authentication tokens, or other browser sites. It does
not call X's private APIs or download the actual media files.
Scroll speed, the Start/Stop preference, and the extension's own export ledger
are stored in extension-local browser storage. A temporary current-part
snapshot is held in browser session storage for page reload recovery.
Exports are written through the browser's Downloads feature to the folder
configured in the browser. Each full part contains 1,500 cards; Save & stop
also saves the smaller final part. Completed export files are kept.
XFI does not upload captured content, run telemetry, use an analytics service,
sell user information, or load remote executable code. X and the browser
still make their own ordinary requests while you use them. If your chosen
download folder is cloud-synced, your cloud provider may sync those files
under its own settings and policy; XFI does not perform that upload.
Use Save & stop before closing the feed or browser to retain a partial file.
Uninstall XFI to remove its extension storage. Exported files remain on disk
and can be deleted or moved by you. Removing the extension does not delete
those files. Export files are readable JSON, not encrypted by XFI.
