BillingBench: Workflow Companion adds a persistent sidebar to Firefox that puts denial code search, payer reference data, and community intelligence alongside the remittance queues, prior authorization portals, and clearinghouse interfaces where billing work actually happens. For signed-in accounts, the sidebar opens automatically when you navigate to a recognized payer portal. For everyone else, it opens on demand from the toolbar.

IRIS — Insurance Reimbursement Intelligence Search
Version 1.2 introduces IRIS, a deterministic search interface over BillingBench's verified policy corpus. Typing a denial code, payer name, or plain-language query returns a structured answer drawn directly from the verified data: the regulatory argument, statutory closing demand, source citation, and a link that opens the relevant BillingBench tool with context pre-filled. Every IRIS result cites a primary source. Nothing is generated from language model inference. When the extension detects a recognized payer portal, the search placeholder surfaces the detected payer as a hint so queries can be targeted without retyping the payer name.

Session Tracking
The Session panel logs denial codes as you work through a remittance, maintaining a running tally of codes, amounts, and decisions for the session. When working inside a recognized portal, the sidebar identifies the payer automatically. For accounts with an active Business Associate Agreement, denial codes can be detected directly from portal page content, pre-filling the session without manual entry.

Prior Authorization
The Prior Auth panel surfaces prior authorization documentation requirements by specialty and payer from BillingBench's reference library, which covers 30 specialties across major commercial payers with inline criteria and portal routing information.

Prompt Pay Calculator and Timely Filing Lookup
The Calc panel covers two related calculations. The prompt pay section computes statutory interest owed on overdue claims under the applicable state statute for all 50 states and DC, producing the exact interest figure and citation for a demand letter. The timely filing section looks up the filing deadline by payer, calculates days remaining from a date of service, and flags claims approaching or past the window.

Verified Payer Alerts
The Alerts panel displays confirmed payer policy changes from BillingBench's editorial team: prior auth requirement changes, portal routing shifts, and denial pattern updates that affect billing workflow. When the extension detects a payer portal, alerts filter automatically to that payer.

Community Intelligence
Authenticated BillingBench accounts unlock the Community panel, which surfaces payer behavior reports submitted by billing professionals across the network. Reports are ranked by community affirmation, labeled with the reporter's practice type and region, and filtered to the payer context of the portal you are working in. The Submit tab allows you to file a payer observation directly from the sidebar without navigating away from your work.

835 ERA Detection
When the extension detects an ERA download in the browser, a banner appears in the sidebar with a one-click route to the BillingBench 835 ERA Parser for immediate denied-claim analysis.

Account Integration
Logging in with a BillingBench account from the sidebar, or from billingbench.com while the extension is installed, syncs your session automatically. A free account is sufficient for the community feed and session saving. A Business Associate Agreement, available at no cost from any account page, enables portal auto-detection and ERA parsing.

Portal Support
The extension detects and activates inside Availity, Waystar, Office Ally, Change Healthcare, TriZetto, Navicure, Noridian, CGS, WPS, Palmetto GBA, First Coast, Anthem, Optum, Optum Behavioral Health, Florida Blue, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and NextGen. Optional host permissions are requested per portal so you control which sites the extension can read.
