Folders for Claude - Privacy Policy

Folders for Claude is a browser extension that lets you organize your conversations on claude.ai into folders.

How your data is handled
By default, the extension works entirely on your own device. Your folders, the assignment of chats to folders, chat titles, and ordering are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB). This never leaves your device unless you turn on Sync.

Optional Sync
Sync is optional and off by default. If you create an account (email and password) and enable Sync, your folder data is encrypted on your own device before it is sent (AES-GCM, with a key derived from your password). It is end-to-end encrypted and stored only as encrypted text that we cannot read.

Data stored when Sync is enabled
- Your email address, used to create and log in to your account.
- An encrypted blob containing your folder names, which chats are in which folders, chat titles, and ordering. It is encrypted on your device and unreadable by us.
We do not store your password in readable form.

What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use it for advertising.
- We do not run analytics or tracking, and we do not record your browsing history.
- We do not share your data with third parties, except the service provider needed to run Sync.

Service provider
When Sync is enabled, account and encrypted data are stored using Supabase, hosted in the European Union, acting only as our hosting and authentication provider. See https://supabase.com/privacy.

Keeping or deleting your data
Local data is removed when you uninstall the extension or clear your browser data. If you created a Sync account, you can request deletion by contacting us at the address below.

Note on the password
Because your data is end-to-end encrypted with a key derived from your password, we cannot recover your encrypted folder data if you forget your password.
