Search image by Yandex is a Firefox addon for reverse image search through Yandex Images from the context menu, popup drag-and-drop, clipboard paste, image URL input, local file input, and base64 data URLs.

Data We Collect

Search image by Yandex does not collect, store, sell, or transmit personal data to any server owned by the extension publisher.

The extension may store the following information locally on your device using storage.local:
- your popup language preference
- other extension settings needed to restore the user interface between sessions, if enabled in future versions

This information stays on your device and is used only to restore your settings.

Image Data

When you start a search, the extension sends the selected image URL or image bytes to Yandex Images so Yandex can perform the requested reverse image search.

Depending on how you use the extension, the data sent to Yandex may include:
- an image URL selected from a webpage
- a local image file that you explicitly drop or choose
- clipboard image data that you explicitly paste into the popup
- a data:image/...;base64,... string that you explicitly provide

The extension sends this data only when you explicitly start a search.

Clipboard Access

The extension can read clipboard image data only when you paste into the popup with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.

The extension does not continuously monitor your clipboard and does not store clipboard contents on its own servers.

Local Files

The extension can process local image files only when you explicitly drop or select a file for search.

Local file data is used only to prepare the Yandex image search request. It is not uploaded to any server owned by the extension publisher.

Host Permissions

The extension uses host permissions to inspect images on webpages when you use the right-click search flow and to send search requests to Yandex Images.

These permissions are not used to collect user data for advertising, analytics, or resale.

Remote Code

Search image by Yandex does not use remote code. All JavaScript, Vue, CSS, and extension assets are bundled inside the extension package.

Third-Party Services

Search image by Yandex uses Yandex Images as the third-party service that performs the reverse image search.

Any data you choose to search with is subject to Yandex's own privacy policy and terms.

Third-Party Sharing

The extension does not sell or share user data with third parties for advertising or analytics.

User-selected image data is transmitted only to Yandex Images to perform the search you requested.

Children’s Privacy

Search image by Yandex is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
