I have updated the app and dumped my cookies. I can't get it to stop playing ads on firefox browser.

*final conclusion

ive been using alternate twitch player between oct '20 and february '21 due to twitch overblowing their ad deployments. however over the past month ive switched back to the standard built in twitch player and ive been faced with, well a reasonable amount of ads really. and their video quality has improved drastically (better than alternate player quality in some cases). just recently theyve FINALLY aligned the theater mode player to have even top and bottom black bars (which has prompted my final conclusions here) so i must say that as much as i now fully recommend sticking to the original twitch player, this still has its use cases as being a very efficient player (5w on my laptop compared to a jumpy 6-9w with the built-in player) and as well being very responsive and less obtrusive. however with the lack of FFZ compression and the comparative quality of twitch's built-in player, i will use theirs for the foreseeable future.

Worked amazing for a month or so, and now every time I go to initialize it, it tells me that the streamer I'm trying to watch has ended their stream. I was hoping that this would be a solid work around. Guess I'm back to not watching Twitch anymore.

This is an amazing extension. Everything is super smooth, low CPU usage, and it's just an infinitely better experience than the bloated official Twitch player. The only issue I have with it is that it seems to have a significant delay in regards to the chat and the stream.

Seems to be working once again. Even if it eventually doesn't work, I'm very happy the work is being put in to combat the amazon ad apocalypse.

Actually I had to realize how good it is when it suddenly stopped working. Absolutely 5 stars. I can confirm it works with new Twitch API if you reinstall this addon.

EDIT: Developer has fixed the API issue, player is working again, actual review to follow.

This extension has proven to be a godsend for me. Using satellite internet, twitch's own player has been broken for years. The control this player offers over the video buffer is absolutely fantastic for dealing with a "quirky" internet connection.

Press F to pay respects. This was the best solution I've ever found, it blocked ads, avoided twitch's stupid algorithm that reduced quality/stopped player when not on the tab and abusive RAM consume by Twitch.tv it self. Twitch is relentless in its war against adblockers. This is a Twitch-being-Amazon thing and not an add-on issue. Adblocker developers have their work cut out for them since they're combating Amazon for their own relevancy. This add on is great and hopefully they update it soon.
