The aim of this plugin is to provide something a little like YouTube's Community Captions were. Essentially this plugin takes in text formatted in a specific way and uses it to add custom captions to any given YouTube video.

Youtube has removed community captions. I wanted to see if I could try to build something which could bridge a gap for those affected who do not have the resources to access paid resources.

The core benefit of the community captions system was that a creator could crowd source caption creation. This was beneficial for the creator and the viewers as this allows for the work load of the task to be distributed amongst more people (making the task of captioning every video less overbearing). Further it makes captioning videos feasible for those who cannot afford (in time and/or money) to caption their videos themselves.
