The extension redirected me to a promotional page advertising Avast Antivirus.

This extension can not be trusted anymore as it has been acquired by Avast, which has collected and sold customer data before (look up Avast Jumpshot).

Was a great extension, but the dev sold to Avast. Uninstalled.

I request the author to publicly share the full source code of the latest GPLv3 available version of the extension after project's Avast acquisition information that was published today.

Thanks for working on the extension for the past years, but please de-list this extension and list it again under Avast branding so all the users know what they sign up to and don't share the user-base with the acquiring company.

Just received a pop-up tab saying "I sold out to Avast", wtf? Remove this extension ASAP

Recently acquired by Avast. I just wanted an extension to get rid of cookie banners, not spyware for a scammy company. My experience has been fine so far, but I can no longer recommend this extension.

Opening a new tab out of nowhere because you want to announce some update is a NOGO! Also Avast as a partner is questionable, because they have a history of installing adware without permission on your device. Removing this addon now. But still thanks for all years.

Sold out to Avast, a shareware/upsell AV company. Expect tracking behavior, advertising, etc in the near future.

Avast? Really?

Just popped up a new tab while I was giving a presentation. WTF? Just for a "hey, I sold out" message. NOPE. Uninstalled. When you doing something like hijacking a user's browser to show them some ad, you've just joined the dark side.

Plus, I've noticed it not working that well. I still see plenty of annoying "Hey! We use cookies" popups on sites.

Not a fan of Avast taking over. Not a fan of spawning a new tab which is basically free marketing. Boo

Welp, I got a message that told me: "This Add-On was sold to Avast."

So I deleted/removed this Add-On.

As for why,
I don't trust Avast. Their "antivirus" gets always loaded as bloatware.

Whelp another addon sold out to another company. I don't blame the author but no thank you. This plugin will slowly turn into some marketing tool with a bunch of useless features. Uninstalling this ASAP.

I loved this extension until 5mn ago, when I learnt that it has now been acquired by Avast!

I highly doubt a company that makes its profit based on collecting user data is a good owner for an extension that is supposed to protect us from data collection and targeted ads...

I am uninstalling it ASAP.
