Iyaku Japanese Reader — what's new in version 0.1.0

Everything works without an account. Signing in is optional: it keeps your saved items and settings in sync with iyaku.org and your other devices.

Reading
- Works in Google Docs and in online editors such as Superhuman Docs (Coda) and Notion. Hover Japanese text as you would on any page; your document is never changed.
- Tap to read on phones and tablets: tap a word to open its sentence, and tap outside to close it.
- More accurate grammar highlighting.
- Long sentences display properly in the popup, including in Firefox.
- Smaller, easier-to-read grammar cards.

Saving and studying
- "Study this" on any kanji opens a writing practice card on iyaku.org.
- New right-click menu: "Send to Iyaku Notebook" turns a selection or a whole page into a note.
- Saved sentences remember which page they came from.

With an account (optional)
- Saved words, sentences and kanji sync with your decks on iyaku.org, even after being offline. Deleting something on iyaku.org removes it here too.
- Reader settings sync with iyaku.org.
- Pages you read show up on your iyaku.org Today page.
- Sign in with Google or with an email link.
- Iyaku Plus members get natural voices and better translations.

Look and feel
- New taiyaki icon and a redesigned popup. The popup shows your study streak, today's reviews and quick links to iyaku.org.
- Dark mode for the popup and settings page.
