I note the urlbar having stuff in it when opening a new tab is something out of the hands of the dev, however - and honestly, this is my only gripe - it will still be causing me to disable the plugin until it is resolved because of the impact it has on my experience of browsing (this is adding an extra to every that I make).

Yes, the url bar behaviour is annoying. I have to wait until Mozilla provide a way to clear the address bar or, at least, to select the full url, at the moment it's not possible. :( - 5점 만점에 5점Firefox 사용자 13230028 님, 9년 전Thank you for changing Speed Dial.
