Shield SIEM — Privacy Policy
Browser Extension for Firefox and Chrome (not affiliated with Mozilla or Google)
Last updated: 2026-05-22 | Developer: ID ArtCraft / Igor Dunaev
TL;DR: Shield SIEM stores all data locally in your browser only. No data is ever transmitted to our servers or any third party. The extension has no server-side component.
- What Shield SIEM Does
Shield SIEM is a browser security extension that monitors HTTP and HTTPS network requests made by your browser. It classifies traffic in real time to identify potential security threats such as tracking scripts, cryptomining code, malware domains, and mixed-content issues. All processing happens locally on your device.
- Data We Collect
We collect nothing. The extension captures the following request metadata locally for display purposes only:
Request URL, HTTP method, and status code
Request type (script, image, fetch, XHR, etc.)
Timing data (duration, DNS time, connect time)
Response size (from Content-Length header)
Tab ID (browser-internal identifier, not linked to your identity)
Threat classification result (normal / suspicious / threat / slow)
HTTP header names (optional, for debugging views)
Non-sensitive header values; sensitive values (Cookie, Authorization, Set-Cookie, API tokens) are stored as [redacted]
Monitoring runs only after you check the consent box and click Start in the extension popup. None of this data is transmitted outside your browser.
- Data Storage
All data is stored using browser.storage.local (Firefox) or chrome.storage.local (Chrome). This storage is:
Local to your device only
Not synced to browser accounts or cloud services
Capped at 1,000 recent events (FIFO — oldest entries removed automatically)
Fully erased when you clear extension data or uninstall the extension
- Permissions and Why We Need Them
Permission Purpose
webRequest Required to observe HTTP/HTTPS requests as they are made by your browser. Without this, the extension cannot function as a traffic monitor.
storage Used to persist the event log and monitoring state (on/off) between browser sessions. Data never leaves your device.
tabs Used to (a) associate requests with the tab that generated them, and (b) relay live events to the idarti.com/iot dashboard tab if you have it open. No browsing history is read or stored.
<all_urls> Required so the extension can observe requests to any domain — not just specific sites. This is necessary for broad traffic monitoring. No page content is read.
- Chrome Web Store — Limited Use
If you install from the Chrome Web Store, our use of information received from Google APIs and Chrome permissions adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: data is used only to provide the on-device traffic monitor, is not sold, not used for ads, and not transferred except as required for the extension to function locally on your device.
- Data Sharing
None. We do not share, sell, transmit, or process your data on any server. There is no backend component to this extension. The developer cannot access your traffic data.
- idarti.com Dashboard Integration
If you have the idarti.com/iot page open, the extension sends captured events to that tab using the browser's built-in tabs.sendMessage API. This is a local browser-to-tab communication channel — no data travels over the network.
- No Accounts Required
Shield SIEM requires no account, registration, or login. There is no user profile and no user identification of any kind.
- Children's Privacy
Shield SIEM is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
- Changes to this Policy
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date will be updated and the new version will be published at this URL. The extension listing pages on the Firefox Add-on store and Chrome Web Store will link to this document.
