Overview
SmartClip is a browser extension that saves web pages to Notion and exports them as Markdown files. This policy explains what data the extension accesses, where it is stored, and which services receive it.
Data accessed on user action
SmartClip reads page data only after you explicitly start a save action:
Page content — text, headings, lists, tables, images, and structure of the active page when you choose “Save page”.
Selected text — when you choose “Save selection”.
Page title and URL — included as source information in the saved result.
SmartClip does not scan tabs, track browsing history, or read pages automatically.
Data stored locally
Notion integration token — stored in chrome.storage.local. It is used to communicate directly with the Notion API and is never sent to the SmartClip billing Worker.
Notion save location — selected page ID and display name.
Offline queue — captured page snapshots and upload state in IndexedDB until the upload is complete or removed.
Preferences and billing cache — destination, anonymous device ID, cached entitlement, and usage response.
Research Stacks and routing rules — named Notion collection page IDs and domain-to-page rules stored locally. Quotes, their source links, and capture timestamps are sent directly to your selected Notion collection, not to the billing Worker.
Billing data
When billing is enabled, the extension sends the following to the SmartClip billing Worker: an anonymous random device ID, extension version, block usage, clip count, plan requests, and invoice identifiers. The Worker does not receive saved page content, page URLs, Notion tokens, or page blocks.
The Worker stores the anonymous device ID, usage counters, plan entitlement, invoice status, and payment confirmation needed to operate prepaid access. Shieldz receives invoice amount, plan metadata, and the payment request required to process the transaction. SmartClip does not receive or store your wallet private keys.
Third-party services
Notion API (api.notion.com) — receives saved page content directly from the extension using your integration token.
SmartClip Billing API (smartclip-billing.powerfyng.workers.dev) — receives anonymous billing and usage data only.
Shieldz (shieldz.cash) — processes payment invoices and sends payment status webhooks to the SmartClip Worker.
What SmartClip does not do
It does not sell or share page content.
It does not run analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising trackers.
It does not upload page content to the SmartClip billing server.
It does not read pages without an explicit save action.
It does not receive your Notion login password.
Permissions
activeTab — read the active page after a save action.
scripting — run the local extraction function in the active page.
contextMenus — provide page and selection save actions.
storage — store tokens, preferences, device ID, and billing cache locally.
alarms — retry queued uploads after connectivity returns.
downloads — save Markdown exports to your chosen browser download location.
host_permissions — communicate with the Notion API and the SmartClip billing Worker.
Data deletion
Uninstalling SmartClip removes its local storage, token, settings, cache, and offline queue. You can also remove failed uploads from the extension history. Pages already created in Notion must be deleted in Notion itself.
To request deletion of anonymous billing records, contact us through Telegram and include the relevant invoice ID or device ID if available.
Changes
This policy may change when SmartClip adds a new data flow. The date above will be updated when this page changes.
