For every page that you are visiting, the extension runs a check to see if it is a potential scam page where it looks like a legit Steam login page but is actually only designed to steal your login information. This is an early version that only looks for a few common keywords that are on the real steam login page and if all math and the URL doesn't match with the legit one, then a big red warning notices you of the potential threat.
