For the last few weeks, the companion app hides downloads that the free add-on would normally show (and other download apps still show) to try and force you to then pay to remove the watermark it adds to the download (that shouldn't need the companion app at all). I proved this by uninstalling the companion app, re-starting Firefox and then the free add-in showed all the video formats again. Problems with the video? No, I ran the test it on VDH's own advertising video on YouTube! The companion app is now hijackware just to try and make money.

- Video Downloadhelper places a bar-code directly in your video in order to convince you to purchase a registered version. This bar-code links you directly to the Video Downloadhelper page. While, I do understand that it does cost money to provide video downloading and video converting services, I strongly reject the idea that its users are not informed a head of the addition to Firefox. Please be considerate of other people and respect their time.

Now it downloads in a fair amount of time, then says it is going to take an hour+ to aggregate a 9.5 minute youtube video which is a still screen and music. If you cancel the aggregating, you lose it all, and I can find no way to stop it. All this since the companion app requirement although you can go without but the downloading seems to have been capped further then.
I'll find something else now.
Came back a year later and it has improved in time it takes and still tells me it requires a companion app, however, now there is a huge QR code all through the video. Is there a point? - 5점 만점에 1점Firefox 사용자 14243558 님, 8년 전Tried it out, but unfortunately it takes forever to download small files and uses a huge QR code in the corner of the screen to extort you to buy a license. I found and donated to an alternative software that doesn't do this. Thanks anyways.
