A self-hosted instance of the yt-dlp webui is needed for the program to function, without a hosted instance of the webui you will not be able to download videos.
This extension allows you to send video download requests to a self-hosted instance of the yt-dlp webui. the github repo to self-host the webui is here: https://github.com/pl44t/yt-dlp-webui. The extension lets you choose options for downlaoding the video like quality, format, and location, it also lets you save the ip of your self-hosted webui to local browser storage and if you are on a youtube video page it will auto fill the url tab with the current video url.
