Close to perfect. I just wish it would highlight the address in the URL bar when making a new tab (google). I just want to start typing in the URL bar and currently it types before the current URL and doesn't replace it. I have to manually highlight the URL then start typing. Switching it to focus on the website is ok but it doesn't work with google to type a web address, it always just searches for it on google.

Unlike the "Custom New Tab Page" extension that hasn't been updated in 5 years. This extension actually does what it says. Was able to set google to new tab with this extension.

It was working fine. But, no longer. I have chosen custom URL (https ://www google com /advanced_search). It doesn't go there upon opening new tab.
It may have been updating firefox to 136.0.4. (spaces added to URL - review does not allow otherwise)

EDIT: Okay, now I got it work. I had to uninstall it and re-install. Something Firefox did somewhere broke it, but I can't say what. I certainly never touched it.
