Single purpose
WhoSpies has a single purpose: to identify and record which email tracking services attempt to track the user when opening messages in Gmail and Outlook Web.
Data collected and where it is stored
WhoSpies stores the following data exclusively in the user's local browser:
| Data | Store | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Signature catalog | storage.local | Bundled JSON with per-provider regex patterns. Public data only. |
| Detection history | storage.local | Sender email address, detected provider name, counters and timestamps. |
| Preferences | storage.local | Protection level, inbox flags, link cleaning, label visibility and the toolbar counter. |
| Local statistics | storage.local | Number of trackers blocked (counter for the icon badge). |
Data NOT collected or transmitted
- The content of your emails.
- No history data is sent to external servers.
- No telemetry, analytics or usage reports.
- No cookies or tracking identifiers.
How to delete your data
- Open the extension by clicking its toolbar icon.
- Go to Options (gear icon).
- Click Clear history to delete all local records.
You can also uninstall the extension from your browser's extension manager to remove all stored data.
Signature catalog updates
The signature catalog ships bundled inside the extension (a public-data JSON file). WhoSpies does not download data from external servers or in the background. The catalog is expanded by publishing a new version of the extension; updates arrive only through the browser's normal extension-update mechanism.
