YourTube Privacy Policy

YourTube is a local-first browser extension for Firefox that hides YouTube videos from user-selected provider and creator channel filters.
YourTube does not use analytics, telemetry, advertising trackers, remote code, account login, or server-side sync. Filtering runs in your browser. Settings are stored in Firefox extension storage on your device.
Data handled by YourTube:
- Extension settings, including whether filtering is enabled.
- Placeholder preference.
- Enabled or disabled seeded provider and channel filters.
- User-added custom channel filters.
- Imported or exported settings when you choose to use import or export.
- Rendered YouTube page information needed to identify video channel names, handles, channel URLs, or channel IDs shown on YouTube pages.
YourTube does not collect, transmit, sell, or share this data with BLCKBOX or third parties.
YourTube does not collect:
- YouTube account credentials.
- YouTube cookies.
- YouTube watch history.
- Search history.
- Personal communications.
- Payment information.
- Health information.
- Precise location.
- Contact lists.
- Form data.
- Advertising identifiers.
- Analytics events.
How data is used:
YourTube reads channel identity information rendered on supported YouTube pages and compares it against enabled seeded and custom channel filters. If a match is found, YourTube hides the matching video entry in the page. If placeholders are enabled, YourTube may show a compact placeholder with a reveal control. This processing happens locally in your browser.
Storage and retention:
YourTube stores settings with the Firefox extension storage API. Settings remain until you change them, reset them, import replacement settings, remove the extension, or clear extension storage through Firefox. Exported settings files are created only when you choose to export settings and are controlled by you after download.
Data sharing:
YourTube does not send user data to BLCKBOX servers. YourTube does not share user data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties.
Permissions:
YourTube requests the storage permission to save settings and YouTube host access so it can inspect rendered YouTube video entries and hide matching channels. YourTube does not request access to all websites.
Remote code and network requests:
YourTube does not load remote code. The extension code is bundled into the add-on package. The extension does not make analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking network requests.
User controls:
You can pause or enable filtering, enable or disable seeded providers, enable or disable individual seeded channels, add or remove custom channel filters, choose whether hidden videos show placeholders, export settings, import settings, reset settings, or remove the extension through Firefox.
Security:
YourTube keeps processing local to the browser and avoids sending settings or page-derived channel information to external services.
Changes:
This policy will be updated if YourTube changes its data handling, permissions, storage behavior, or distribution model.
