Is the video player Adobe Flash? Can try to enable the "Flash Detection" feature in the Turn Off the Lights Options page -> Advanced Options tab -> Flash Detection.

What is bugged in the Turn Off the Lights Firefox extension? Do you use any other Firefox extensions in the background? Try to disable that one by one except Turn Off the Lights.
