Aletha replaces Firefox's new tab with a calm, minimal start page — one you actually control.

No suggested sites. No sponsored tiles. No telemetry. No login. Just a clean canvas with the tools you choose to put on it.

WHAT YOU GET

— Search bar: Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Yandex, Brave, Ecosia, Startpage, or Qwant. Pick your default in settings.

— Custom shortcuts: Add any site as a tile. Auto-fetched favicons, or upload your own image. Drag to reorder.

— Clock & calendar: Click the clock to open a glass-style monthly calendar popup.

— Weather widget: Current conditions plus a 7-day forecast. Click the widget to expand. °C / °F toggle, smart default based on your locale.

— Currency rates: Add forex pairs separated by commas in settings (e.g. USD/EUR, USD/CZK, EUR/GBP).

— Crypto rates: Add crypto tickers separated by commas in settings (e.g. BTC/USD, ETH/USD, SOL/USD).

— Multi-provider weather with auto-fallback: Open-Meteo, wttr in, MET Norway. If one service is down, Aletha switches automatically. You can also lock it to a specific provider in settings.

— Custom background: Upload your own image, or use the default.

— Full backup & restore: One-click export/import of all your tiles, settings, and preferences as a JSON file.

— 15 languages: English, Russian, Ukrainian, Czech, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Dutch, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese.

PRIVACY FIRST

— No tracking. No analytics. No accounts.
— No data collection of any kind.
— All your data stays in your browser's local storage.
— Weather requests go directly from your browser to the chosen weather provider. Aletha has no server.
— Open source, audited code. No build step, no bundled dependencies.

WHY ALETHA?

Most new tab replacements are bloated with feeds, ads, "inspiration," productivity dashboards you'll never use, or sneaky data collection. Aletha is the opposite — an empty page that becomes exactly what you make of it. Add ten tiles or zero. Show the weather or hide it. Use it as a launcher, a calm landing spot, or just a clean blank canvas.

The name "Aletha" comes from the Greek "aletheia" — truth, unconcealment. A new tab without anything hidden behind it.

PERMISSIONS

Only "storage" — used to save your tiles, settings, and weather cache locally in your browser. Nothing else.
