This is EXACTLY the addon I needed. Thanks to its creators, it's wonderful. In fact, I think this should be a standard feature in firefox rather than an addon

You can set keyboard shortcuts. Use the Firefox addon manager for that. There's a way to customize shortcuts per addon.
