to anyone that at 07-12-2023 YT again shows that you are using an adblock heres a tip:
Install /update uBlockOrigin

go to about:addons

click the 3 dots for uBlock > mange

click the settings cog at top right > Check for Updates

uBlockOrigin in address/tool bar -> Settings > filter lists

Purge all caches

Update now

Go to one of the youtube tabs (ideally no other youtube tabs open, but I'm a tab hoarder so.)

I also have firefox containers and the temp containers extension + audio autoplay is disabled. Which may be helping.

click padlock in addressbar > clear data

reload the page and login again (if you have temp containers, you have to disable it during login due to cross-site redirects.)

No longer works on Youtube as of 01/11/24

i'm useing uBlock since 2019 i can't say anything bad about it

This will really need an update, after Youtube's extreme decisions. I can't use the internet without it anymore, but unfortunately YouTube will do everything it can to force people to pay Premium even though it offers a quality of service that leaves something to be desired.

I would like to see Google strive in this way to improve its products instead of buying exclusive rights to platforms like iPhone and Android or force people to pay.

I cleared history, cache, cookies of firefox browser. I started Youtube. I refused to agree to their new modified EULA. I deleted the cache of uBlock Origin + update.

And everything works again.

Good plugin needs update for youtube as of 12/6/23

Way better than "ad-block" or whatever that extension is. Charging for a premium version tipped me over the edge, I made the swap to ublock and holy is it good. Not only is it a adblocker, you can also add your own filters in. For example I blocked youtube shorts on desktop with it, and I also put in a community script that removes the artificial slowdown youtube gives you when using firefox
