Up until the recent updates to YT which broke downloads, this has been my only way in which I download videos I need. But don't worry, the dev is already working on a fix!

2. Another 2 years and many YouTube changes later, and it works better than ever.

I haven't noticed any shady shenanigans with it active so I'm fairly confident in saying that it doesn't pose any security issues overall.
