Privacy Policy
IG SaveSort Chrome Extension - Last updated: June 10, 2026 (moving servers/altering page structure)

The short version: IG SaveSort does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything the extension does happens entirely within your own browser, using your existing Instagram session. We have no servers, no databases, and no analytics.

1. Who We Are
   IG SaveSort is a Chrome browser extension developed and maintained by Bryan Cowe, based in the Netherlands. For any privacy-related questions, you can contact us at igsavesort@gmail.com.
2. What Data We Process
   IG SaveSort processes the following - and nothing more:

Your Instagram session (read-only access)
The extension reads your Instagram saved collections and posts directly from your browser tab, using your existing logged-in Instagram session. This data is never transmitted anywhere - it is read locally and displayed within the extension interface only.

Extension preferences (stored locally)
Two settings are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API:

Dark mode on/off - your display preference
Move count - tracks how many free moves you have used
Unlock status - whether you have purchased a license
License key - your Gumroad license key, stored locally to avoid re-entry (never transmitted beyond the one-time verification described in section 4)
These values are stored only on your device. They are never transmitted to any server and are not accessible to anyone other than you.

What we do NOT collect
No names, email addresses, or account identifiers
No Instagram content, posts, captions, or media
No browsing history or activity logs
No IP addresses or device identifiers
No analytics, crash reports, or usage telemetry
No cookies set by IG SaveSort itself
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process data under the following legal basis:

Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) - The limited local processing described above is strictly necessary to provide the core functionality of the extension. No personal data leaves your device.
Because we do not collect or transmit personal data, no consent mechanism is required for the extension's operation. There is no data controller relationship beyond the local processing described above.

1. Data Sharing and Third Parties
   We do not share any data with any third party - because we do not collect any data to share. IG SaveSort has no backend infrastructure, no analytics integrations, and no advertising relationships.

The extension makes direct API calls to Instagram's own servers on your behalf, using your existing authenticated session. These requests are identical to the requests Instagram's own website makes when you browse your saved collections normally. IG SaveSort is not a party to the data relationship between you and Instagram/Meta.

If you choose to enter a license key to unlock the extension, that key is transmitted to Gumroad's API (api.gumroad.com) solely to verify its validity. No other data is sent. Gumroad's own privacy policy governs how they handle this request.

1. Data Retention
   The two local preference values (selection mode, dark mode) are stored on your device until you uninstall the extension or clear Chrome's extension storage. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome.

We retain no data on any server, because no data is ever sent to any server.

1. Your Rights Under GDPR
   If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights regarding personal data:

Right of access - The only data associated with you is the two local preference values on your own device, which you can view at any time.
Right to erasure - You can delete all extension data instantly by uninstalling IG SaveSort from Chrome.
Right to data portability - Not applicable, as no personal data is stored by us.
Right to object - You can stop all processing immediately by disabling or uninstalling the extension.
Right to lodge a complaint - You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the Netherlands, this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
7. Children's Privacy
IG SaveSort is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 where applicable under local law). We do not knowingly process any data from minors. Use of this extension requires an active Instagram account, which is subject to Instagram's own age requirements.

1. Changes to This Policy
   If we make any material changes to this privacy policy (e.g. if a future version of the extension introduces any data collection) we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and note the changes clearly. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
