What the add-on does
- Start a thread to group your research activity for a specific topic, project, or investigation.
- Track pages automatically as you browse while the thread is active.
- Capture highlights and notes by selecting text on a page and saving it with context.
- Review and organize your work in the workspace, where you can browse sessions, search highlights, and revisit pages.
- Recover recently deleted sessions when needed.
- Create MLA and APA citations for tracked pages.
- Export your research to Markdown for sharing, notes, or backup.
- Keep everything local on your device with no cloud sync required.
How to use it
1. Click the extension icon and press Start New Thread.
2. Browse as usual. Pages you visit during the active thread are added to your research timeline.
3. Select text on a page and use the Capture button or the Capture Selection option in the popup to save a highlight.
4. Open Open Your Threads to view your full research history, edit insights, rate highlights, link related items, restore recent sessions, and export your thread to Markdown.
Privacy and data
Open Thread for Firefox stores your research data locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to any third party, and the add-on does not require account sign-in to function.
