Retrace stores everything locally in your browser. Nothing is ever uploaded, transmitted, or shared — no servers, no analytics, no tracking, no accounts.
It saves lightweight snapshots of tabs you leave (title, URL, scroll position, a small thumbnail, and any unsaved text you typed — never from password fields, length-capped) so you can return to where you were. Snapshots auto-delete on a schedule you control, and you can erase everything instantly via Settings → "Forget everything now."
Permissions (tabs, scripting, host access, storage, idle, alarms) are used solely for this local functionality.
