Send to Grain av speculative artefact

Send to Grain is the browser half of Grain, the local-first reference app for Mac and Windows. Grain keeps reference in stores as files in a folder on your computer.

Right-click anything worth keeping and it lands in the store you last had open, as ordinary files in your own folders:

• Images download into your store, with the page they came from remembered as their source.
• Send an Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, Pinterest, Cara, ArtStation, Bluesky, Are.na or Cosmos post (or an image on one) and its media download at full resolution, with the author and caption remembered.
• A page is kept as a webpage grain, carrying its title and preview image.
• Audio files can be sent straight from the browser.
• "Clip article to Grain" converts the readable part of a page to markdown inside your browser and saves it as a note, with the source attached.

No accounts, no servers. The extension has no host permissions, reads a page only when you clip it, and never talks to any server: it hands what you picked to the Grain app on your own computer through a grain:// link. Nothing is collected, and nothing leaves your machine.

Requires the free Grain desktop app on macOS or Windows. Article extraction uses Defuddle (MIT), bundled inside the extension.
