ThetaEdge Browser Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 16, 2026
This policy explains what the ThetaEdge browser extension (the “Extension”) accesses, stores, and shares. It supplements the ThetaEdge Privacy Policy, which governs the ThetaEdge service overall (including your rights, data retention, and how to contact us).
What the Extension Is For
The Extension does two things:Connects your Robinhood account to ThetaEdge using Robinhood’s official authorization flow, which Robinhood permits only from a local client (such as a browser extension).
Displays your ThetaEdge trading cart so you can review trade details and copy individual values into a broker’s order ticket for brokers ThetaEdge cannot place orders with directly.
Data the Extension AccessesThetaEdge access key. When you connect the Extension to your ThetaEdge account, the ThetaEdge website (while you are signed in) issues a scoped access key to the Extension. The key is stored only in your browser’s local extension storage on your device. It is never synced to other devices and is used solely to authenticate the Extension’s requests to ThetaEdge.
Cart, account, and connection data. The Extension reads your ThetaEdge cart, brokerage account names, and broker-connection status from the ThetaEdge API in order to display them in the popup. This data is shown to you and is not sent anywhere other than between the Extension and ThetaEdge.
Robinhood authorization. The Robinhood sign-in and consent happen entirely on Robinhood’s own website, in your browser. The Extension never sees, receives, or stores your Robinhood username, password, or other credentials. After you consent, the Extension reads only the authorization code and state from Robinhood’s redirect and relays them to ThetaEdge’s backend to complete the connection.
Clipboard. The Extension writes a trade value to your clipboard only when you click that value. It never reads your clipboard.
Data the Extension Does Not CollectIt does not collect your browsing history or activity on other websites.
Its content script runs only on thetaedge.ai pages (to complete pairing); it does not read or modify other sites.
It contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking technologies, and sets no cookies.
It does not collect or store Robinhood (or any broker) login credentials.
Permissions and Why They Are NeededStorage — to keep your ThetaEdge access key on your device so you stay connected.
Tabs — to open Robinhood’s authorization page and close the redirect tab once authorization completes.
Web navigation — to detect the local redirect Robinhood sends after you authorize, so the Extension can read the authorization code.
Access to thetaedge.ai and its subdomains — to call the ThetaEdge API and to complete pairing on the ThetaEdge website.
Access to the local loopback address (127.0.0.1) — to capture Robinhood’s redirect locally; no local server is run and no local data is read.
How Data Is Shared
The Extension communicates only with ThetaEdge and, during authorization, with Robinhood’s own website. ThetaEdge does not sell your personal data. ThetaEdge’s handling of the data it receives — including brokerage data used solely to provide analytics and features, never for ThetaEdge’s own trading — is described in the ThetaEdge Privacy Policy.
Your Choices
You can disconnect the Extension at any time, which removes the stored access key, by removing the Extension from your browser or clearing its storage. You may revoke the Extension’s access key from your ThetaEdge account settings. To exercise the data rights described in the main policy, or for any privacy question, contact us at privacy@thetaedge.ai.
Changes
We may update this policy as the Extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
